What to bring
You need only bring your food and drinks, as all cottages are fully self-contained. All household linen is supplied, but you may need your own swimming towels. Please bring your own tennis racquets (hire racquets available), fishing gear and binoculars, CDs & DVD's. You may also wish to bring your own windsurfer, motor or sailing boat if you have one. Rubber boots are handy for lakeside walks following wet weather. Please do not bring pets, candles or children's felt-tip pens.

Meals
Most guests choose to prepare their own meals as the cottages all have a stove, oven, microwave and barbecue. If you wish, we can place provisions for a hearty cooked breakfast in your cottage. These include a choice of cereals, orange juice, our own delicious homemade bread, selection of jams, bacon, eggs, milk and good tea and coffee. If you do not feel like cooking dinner or lunch, there is a good coffee shop and a restaurant in Meningie, and a pub and courthouse cafe in Wellington, all about 25 minutes drive from Poltalloch Station. Please let us know if you are interested in a local caterer providing meals for a group.

Smoking
Smoking is not permitted inside the cottages and other buildings at Poltalloch. Smokers' buckets are provided on each cottage verandah.

Children
Poltalloch Station is an ideal holiday base for couples and for families. Children are welcome. A responsible adult must supervise children at all times. There is no charge for infants sleeping in your own portable cot.

Wood Fires
Your slow combustion wood heater can provide both a romantic wood burning fire and a good source of heating. In winter you will be provided with sufficient wood to have a good fire each evening. The cottages also have reverse-cycle air conditioners and electric blankets for warmth.

Drinking Water
Rainwater for drinking is provided in each cottage. Please refer to the guest information folder in your cottage for which taps are rainwater.

Arrival and Departure Times
Cottages are available from 3.00pm on the first day of your stay and must be vacated by 11.00am on your departure day, unless other arrangements are made.

Shopping
You can buy most things in Meningie, which has a variety of services. The two supermarkets are open 7 days a week until 6.00pm. Coorong Mullet, a delicious local fish, can be purchased from the butchers or directly from fishermen in Meningie. There is an old style general store in Narrung, 8 kilometres west of the cottages, over the ferry. Narrung store sells a wide variety of everyday items; opening times are limited on weekends.

Mobile Telephones
There is quite good coverage for CDMA mobile phones at Poltalloch Station. Standard digital mobile phones have a more limited reception, which seems to vary depending on the conditions of the day and where one is standing. Generally speaking, there is virtually no reception for Optus phones, and hand-held Vodaphone and Telstra phones can make quite clear calls at times. Most guests with car-kits for Telstra and Vodaphone mobile phones are able make clear phone calls most of the time.
